When luminous natural opal from Australia has seeped with water into cracks or seams of rock (like ironstone) and is retained with the host rock, it is called BOULDER OPAL. As the surrounding stone is hard, the opal is less fragile than on its own. These pieces are golden brown rocks with large cracks revealing yellow on the top with fiery red and vibrant turquoise opal, on the bottom a luminous white with blue. Set in sterling, pieces are joined by dual jump rings for slight hinged movement, measures 1 inch across, 2-3/4 inches long including large bail.
