When luminous natural opal from Australia has seeped with water into cracks or seams of rock (like ironstone) and is retained with the host rock, it is called BOULDER OPAL. As the surrounding stone is hard, the opal is less fragile than on its own. The top stone on this pendant has brown/beige rock in background and on top corner, then most of the surface is covered in translucent blue that glows. The bottom stone has mostly the golden brown/beige rock, then the edges and lower center are translucent clear with blue glows. Set in sterling, pieces joined by rings for hinged movement, measures 7/8 inch across, 2-7/8 inches long including bail.
