The pendant on this necklace is TEKTITE, also known as Indochinite, a natural glass that is at least 700,000 years old created from rock melted by a blast such as from a volcano or meteor. It has a rough and petrified feeling to it as it tumbled in the explosion. This one measures 1.5 inches long, captured by peyote stitch underneath a golden art glass tube. Rest of necklace is knotted around CARVED SMOKEY QUARTZ rectangles, smokey brown in color. The clasp is gold on sterling vermeil in heavy cast leaf motif, hook and eye style. 17 inches long.
CIAVERELLI DESIGN is named after Lynn Levitt's daughter who inspired her to revisit a childhood passion for rocks and gems. Her father took her on his own rock collecting jaunts, giving Lynn the appreciation for the rare beauty of things from the ground. Creatively using the peyote stitch to wrap the unusual stone shapes safely, her one-of-a-kind finished pieces can be worn comfortably.
