Artwork by Mary Blair titled Poker Bears. Hinged box measures 8 x 5.5 x 2.75 inches, painted in bright royal blue. The fanciful painting has rich greens and blues with orange and pink, depicting a raccoon inside a tree, then the 3 bears playing cards on a stump, all set in a magical forest by a stream with mountain background. Fabric back and inside lide is watery blue. Black velvet lining, black handle.
The original designer of the Cigar Box handbags, Terri Putz, inspired by the discarded boxes of her boss Orson Wells, created Orson's Place wooden box bags bearing original artwork reproductions as described above. Box bags are richly painted, fabric inset on back, brass corner hardware, interiors are also lined in fabric, comfortable plastic handles, secure lock and snap closure.
