Susan and Jim Whalen's Paradox Pottery is based in the Blue Ridge Mountain region, featuring the natural yellow clay found locally. Wheel-thrown and pit-fired, it is a lighter weight and porous construction, not suitable for liquids. The finish includes stains and rubbing with special oils for a natural smooth surface like a buffed wood, and the colors are richly natural. 9 x 6 inches, black leopard spots on golden tan.
