You really need to look around the top of this box, where the cats are going wild at their own tea party. Box measures 4 x 3 inches, 4 inches tall including legs and the top of the bird cage pole. Fairly flat brass box, it is about 3/8 inch interior space, opens from hinged back and snaps closed in front.
The motif includes 5 cats of various colors and stripes, on ornate pink enameled furniture (one chair tipped over already). The silver tea set has cups spilling their tea, the can of sardines has its lid rolled back (sardines gone, of course), but a cake and cookies are still on their plates. The bird is safely swinging in its cage. One cat is talking into the antique phone , another has its paw in the goldfish bowl. A basket of flowers has been knocked off behind the sofa. A mouse is daring the cat to pounce off to one side. How fun is this party!
