Handbags made in Maine, somewhere in the middle of an alfalfa field! The name "Erda" is an ancient goddess of seasons and productivity, pretty much depicting the creative spirit and environment where they are made. Erda began in 1971 by Patti Dowse, who now has 14 collaboraters. The bags feature interesting shapes in either ultra soft deerskin, or boldly printed fabrics. Some are reversible, some have versatile straps to wear long, short or around the waist. All bags are roomy and casual.

On the front is the curved zipper opening. Interior is unlined, but there are two open pockets along the back wall to organize. 1 inch wide strap adjusts up to 48 inches long (cross-body), and you can adjust it shorter (dare we say super-sized fanny pack too, but without quick release)? Zip-around front reveals unlined open interior space, open pocket on the outside back. A sliding toggle adjusts the strap length, you can wear around the waist and cinch it tight, cross body, over the shoulder. The Riot fabric is a tight weave in blue, aqua, mustard, red, rose and green, the colors interwoven for interesting color blends.

The top under flap has a covered metal hinged opening, that opens and closes firmly. Inside is unlined with one open pocket, another open pocket spans the exterior in back. The strap adjusts 24-48 inches long, attached with lobster toggles so you can remove, put around waist, kinda versatile that way. The Manhattan fabric is a tightly woven jet black fabric with a bit of sheen on it, sparse geometric embroidered patterns in brown and tan with a hint of metallic.
