Exotic colors emanate from the mother-of-pearl nacre of abalone and paua mollusks. These sea reef and rock creatures build the shells as they grow, with rings of colors gray, blue, green, pink and gold. Paua from New Zealand is more brilliant, with color found inside and outside the shell. This page has an assortment of handcrafted jewelry incorporating parts of these shells in various settings. A small PAUA SHELL features prominently in sterling silver pendant setting. Paua is from New Zealand seas, and shimmers silvery blue, green and purple in orbicular water shapes. Shell measures 1.25 x 2 inches. This is set below silver tube that holds up to 4mm chain. Off to the right side are a series of bezel set and faceted BLUE TOPAZ and PERIDOT gemstones, about 4mm in size. Overall pendant measurements are 2.5 x 1-5/8 inches, about 3/8 inches deep.

Shiny and roughly hammered texture on 1-1/8 inch charms that dangle from smooth CLIP-ON hoop top that is 1/2 inch wide. A round disk of ABALONE SHELL rests at the bottom. Dangling length is 1-5/8 inches. These are ultra light in weight, and you have a choice of golden or silver plated finishes. The CLIP ON hoop works for all ears, opens on hinge. Charms slip on and off easily, so you can wear the hoop alone, or interchange charms with other earrings in the J.Jansen collection!
