Sarah Cavender graduated from Philadelphia College of Art with a major in Sculpture. She creates these small sculptures for jewelry with brass screening, folding and forming to shape into flowers and bugs. Belts incorporate sculpted buckles with rolled mesh, bangles use mesh and filigree. They are made in her small shop of local Alabama craftspeople, where each piece is individually plated or oxidized, handpainted with bronze powders in a base of lacquer, then sealed. The resulting colors are are more like metallic tints, that glisten and subtly transform in the bendable shapes.

A 2-3/4 inch medallion in rich copper color holds cabochons of fiery glass opals that glisten pink to blue, and pyramids of reflective glass. Four rolled mesh chains measure about 4mm across, combined they are 3/4 inch wide, colored in dark copper. The strands are looped on one end and held by a silver piece that slides to open and close the loop around the flower (open wide to slip off the flower buckle, close to secure). The flower buckle is attached to another silver slide that allows adjustment of length, the 4 ends hanging as fringe below. Up to 49 inches long, and any length shorter.

CARE OF SARAH CAVENDER JEWELRY
This metal handcrafted jewelry and accessories has been finished in a lacquer base bronze-oxide powder. It should be cleaned with a soft cloth or mild detergent only. Sarah warns that contact with solvent-based hairsprays and perfumes will damage the finish. With proper care, your accessories will last for untold years!
